      Yes. We have these huge motorway gantries that we put technology on to monitor and advise road users.

      These gantries have electricity on both sides BUT they are not allowed to have power cables going up and over them. Also the cost to put a cable through the road is very very large.

      I had a think and decided to put a fibre optic cable over the gantry which allows the electricity to be switch off and on from either side. All that you do is break the beam of light which is attached to a switch and as the light breaks so does the electricity supply to the other side.

      Easy in principle but it took some time to develop!
