I can tell you when you fly when you go on holiday?

The shape of the wing (or the aerofoil) is engineering to create lift. the bottom of the wing is flat and the top is curved. When the air hits the tip of the wing it splits off to the top and bottom but ends up leaving the wing at the same time. How can it do this when the distance on the top is longer than the bottom?!

The airflow on the curved wing top surface moves faster than the air below which causes lift!

It is called Bernoulli’s effect http://cf.ydcdn.net/1.0.1.49/images/computer/BERNULI.GIF
